Jimi Hendrix “Rock Band” Game Confirmed

Jimi Hendrix’s stepsister Janie Hendrix recently revealed that a Hendrix edition of “Rock Band” will hit stores sometime this year. Having recently licensed a deal with Sony which outlines that the company will “make his music ‘available through every type of media’ – including a new edition of ‘Rock Band.’”

But before we get to play “Purple Haze” on Rock Band, we’ll get a new disc that includes recordings Hendrix made in 1969. The album is titled Valleys of Neptune and will be released on March 9th.

Update (2/18/10): Game developer Harmonix has denied reports of a Hendrix themed game.


“Developer Harmonix has dismissed speculation that it is working on a Jimi Hendrix-themed edition of its music and rhythm franchise Rock Band.

A representative from the gamemaker told Kotaku stated that a standalone game based on the legendary guitarist’s music is not in the works, despite comments attributed to the late star’s stepsister.Harmonix nevertheless stated that it hopes to bring some of the rock icon’s work to the Rock Band franchise in some capacity.

It stated: “We are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring more of his music to our platform. Stay tuned.”
